Welcome to Trumps Green WI; Steph Lillis  is our President

Trumps Green WI was founded in 1960. Our Founding President was Bernice Leutchford. TGWI was established to offer the ladies of Trumps Green and local area, the chance to make friends, learn new skills, whilst benefiting the local community and feeling part of it too.

The Women's Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation's aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK.

The WI celebrated its centenary in 2015 and currently has almost 220,000 members in approximately 6,300 WIs.The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

Trumps Green WI has gone from strength to strength, and we currently have 64 members. If you joined the WI in 1960 you would have paid 3/6d.

Our subscription charges are paid annually, at the January meeting. For 2018 they are £41.00. Included in your subscription is a quarterly WI Life magazine, and a monthly Surrey News magazine. We also produce our own monthly e-newsletter to keep you up to date with what is happening.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday every month, except August, when we have a break as many people are on holiday. There is usually have a guest speaker, but we have other activities too, please check our programme page for our events for this year. Our meetings are very informal,

As well as our monthly meetings we have a theatre group, where we are able to arrange trips to theatre in premium seats at a discounted rate. There is an evening book club, we have arranged chocolate making classes, Christmas wreath making and a First Aid course, and our knitters have undertaken a number of knitting projects over the years.

So, if you are a cake baker, a craft maker or a candle stick maker, we would love to see you at our meeting and you could put your skills to good use!

Twice a year we organise a coach trip and have visited a number of really interesting places, latterly these have included trips to the Bank of England, Downton Abbey and the Christmas Markets in Salisbury and Winchester, we always find a lovely hotel to provide us with a lunch.

Being a member of the WI brings so much to your life, new interests and new friends, so do come along and meet us.

I hope to see you soon,

Very Best Wishes,
